I've been seeing several articles lately on how to become a morning person, secrets of celebrity morning routines and more quirky things on daily rituals. This time last year I was actually on that morning grind. I lived in Lincoln Park and was close to a local gym, making my morning walk/run to the facility a breeze... even when it was 2* and snowing. Now, I can't seem to get myself out of bed these days to make it to a SoulCycle class or morning yoga at Equinox. So, I thought it would be fun to walk you through what my morning looks like after I roll my booty out of bed - in hopes of getting myself back in to my morning routine!
COFFEE BEFORE TALKIE
My morning fuel is a whole lot of java. To be 100% honest, I'm not quite sure it's actually what kicks my butt into gear, but I sure to love a hot latte in the morning. I've been enjoying a new Nespresso flavor, The Selection Vintage 2014. This espresso has a taste profile of elegant woodiness, softened fruity notes and a smooth velvety texture. Delicious for a little morning kick!PRIMP
I'm a nut and always like to make sure I'm looking my best for work each morning. I do have quite a few imperfections on my skin (acne, redness, dryness, etc...) so I do add at least concealer or foundation each morning. I did another post pretty recently that outlined my favorite beauty buys. This is essentially a round up of my daily make up routine- Moisturizer, foundation/concealer, blush, eyebrow filler, mascara and light eyeshadow.TAME & STYLE
Most days, I try to style my hair before work. When I use my Beachwaver, the curls last about two days before I need to wash my hair and the process takes a total of about 20 min. When it's rainy or I decide to hit snooze a few too many times, I put it in a low bun or high pony. For my attire, some days I definitely take "casual" to a new low, but most days it's jeans with a cute top/sweater or in the summer my go to is dresses on dresses. I typically check the weather the evening before and take a look at my calendar to see if I have any events coming up. Then, I start to plan my outfit at the beginning of the week or at least the night before. That makes my morning so much easier to get out the door on time.
GRAB A BITE
I'm a big proponent of enjoying breakfast. If you struggle to keep up during the day, try waking up 15-30min earlier to make yourself breakfast. It can be as simple as half a grapefruit and yogurt, bowl of cereal, oatmeal or scrambled eggs and toast. Of course, there are days when I just barely make it out the door in time. In that case, I grab a yogurt to go or take a granola bar - but I try to avoid that when I can. Most of the meals I listed above take little to no time to make and are healthy! You can get super crafty and even make egg muffins or overnight oats the night before.FUTURE GOAL: GYM TIME
I officially confirmed last week that I will be partnering with a major fitness brand over the next few months. I'm going to be mysterious here and leave you hanging, but I'm really excited for this collaboration. One of my main goals when starting with them will be to get in the habit of a morning workout when I can. I also just started the Tone It Up Bikini Series. I'm doing it with a few friends and hoping we can keep each other accountable (you should totally join!). Now that the weather is getting nicer, there is no excuse not to wake up and smell the roses 😉
