Sometimes, when the weather is way to darn hot, I can't drink alcohol for too long. Am I crazy or does that feeling hit other people too? Don't get me wrong - love a cold glass of rose or tasty beer, but I can only take so much when it's 90+ degrees outside. When I get to that point, I'm all about mixing up some summer refreshers like an ice cold watermelon lemon tea. It's super easy and basically just requires Lipton tea, watermelon and lemon - two of the ingredients you probably already have around the house during the summertime!
The prep is also super easy. I've broken it down into 5 steps, but if you're a pro at making tea at home- this will be a breeze! Keep scrolling to find out my step by step iced tea refresher.
Grab your Lipton tea and tea kettle. My family just got a little electric tea kettle. This is life saving and a total must. You can find great ones for under $30. Once you have that all heated up and ready to go, grab your Lipton Tea and steep for about three to five minutes.
Prep your fruit. For this iced tea mixture, I used watermelon and lemon as my add-ins. They are both refreshing but don't over power each other with flavor. While steeping your tea, cut up your lemon and watermelon as desired.
Add the ice. As I mentioned, I love my summer drinks extra cold. If you have time and want to prevent your tea from getting too watery, pop it in the fridge for a couple hours. Then, simple stir in your ice. This will help it stay cold and not melt right away as it would if you added it straight to the hot tea.
Garnish with fruit. This is the fun part! Now it's time to add in your tasty fruit you just cut up. If you want the extra power of lemon, add in some lemon juice. I garnished mine with mini watermelon slices on the side and delicious lemon in the tea. They will be extra delicious after they soak in the tea a bit!
Sip, sip and enjoy! After all your prep, it's time to kick back, relax and enjoy your refreshing tea. I hear it's supposed to be 99 on Friday. Dear Lord - let's hope that is not the case or I'm going to need a lot of iced teas!
Do you think you will make your own Lipton Iced Tea refresher? Let me know what combinations you've tried. I'm trying to play around with the idea of lavender - sounds yummy!

Thanks Ashley! There is something about the Lipton tea that I truly prefer over others. Appreciate the kind words about my photos - I love looking through your amazing blog for great photos!
DeleteI'm the same way can drinking anything alcohol is difficult during the heat! I think it's bc we are dehydrated from the heat and the alcohol just makes it worse. But this drink definitely looks refreshing! Now I would totally make and drink this in this hot weather!
